Let’s find out and write down facts about Rakesh Sharma:

(a) Place of birth: Patiala, in the state of Punjab.

(b) Year of birth: 1949.

(c) Name of schools attended: St. George’s Grammar School, Hyderabad and Kendriya Vidyalaya Tirumalagiri, Hyderabad.

(d) Year of joining the National Defence Academy: July 1966.

(e) Total time he spent in space: Seven days, twenty-one hours and forty minutes in space.

ACTIVITY 2

Find answers from the text.

Ans: Kalpana Chawla was born in 1962 in Karnal, in the state of Haryana.

(b) Where did Kalpana go in 1982?

Ans: Kalpana went to the USA to study at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1982.

(c) What was Kalpana called by her family?

Ans: Kalpana was called Montu by her family.

Let’s read the words:
